Sue Murphy has resigned from SportsQuest. She was most recently vice president of facilities and president of events. Prior to that, Murphy was executive director of boys and girls lacrosse, executive director of field hockey and director of professional sports.

Law

James W.C. Canup joined Kaufman & Canoles in the taxation section. Most recently, Canup was with Virginia Estate Plans. Canup attended law school at Washington and Lee University and attended the University of Virginia as an undergraduate.

Higher education

Nathan A. Crozier will join the University of Richmond as director of admission effective July 25. Crozier is currently the associate director of admission at DePaul University. He previously held admission positions at the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and George Washington University. He has a master’s degree from George Washington and attended Westminster College as an undergraduate. He succeeds Michael Kabbaz, who recently became associate vice president for enrollment at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Real estate

Jim Tucker joined Calkain Companies as chief operating officer. He was most recently the Mid-Atlantic regional manager for Sperry Van Ness. Tucker attended California State University and the University of Florida.

Shane Finnegan has been promoted at Gumenick Properties to director of construction and development. He recently served as project manager. Finnegan has an MBA from Virginia Commonwealth University and attended Virginia Tech as an undergraduate.

Tim Parent has joined Gumenick Properties as sales and marketing manager. He was previously a manager for Southern Development Homes. Parent attended Virginia Tech.

Investment banking/finance

D. Ashton Armistead has been promoted to senior vice president, information systems at Davenport & Company. She has been with Davenport since 1988 and attended Wake Forest University.

Maureen A. Gallihugh has been promoted to senior vice president, investments at Davenport & Company. She has been with Davenport since 2001.

Sandra W. Mauney has been promoted to senior vice president, compliance at Davenport & Company. Mauney has been with Davenport since 2005.

Michael C. Morris has been promoted to senior vice president, research at Davenport & Company. Morris has been with Davenport since 2010. He has an MBA from New York University and attended William and Mary.

James E. Sanderson Jr. has been promoted to senior vice president, public finance at Davenport & Company. Sanderson has been with Davenport since 2004. He attended law school at the University of Richmond and attended the University of Virginia as an undergraduate.

Tammy Rene Severt has been promoted to senior vice president, financial services at Davenport & Company. She has been with Davenport since 1998. Severt attended Radford University.

James Clark has been promoted to managing director at Harris Williams & Co. Prior to joining the company, Clark was an investment manager in Ericsson AB’s strategic venture capital group and a manager at Arthur Andersen’s Strategy, Finance and Economics practice.

Derek Lewis has been promoted as a managing director at Harris Williams & Co. Lewis has an MBA from Harvard.

Patrick McNulty has been promoted as a managing director at Harris Williams & Co. Most recently, McNulty was an investment banker at Deutsche Bank and UBS.

Cheairs Porter has been promoted as a managing director at Harris Williams & Co. Most recently, Porter was an investment banking associate with Merrill Lynch & Co.

Joe Conner has been promoted as a director at Harris Williams & Co. Prior to joining Harris Williams & Co., Conner worked for CSX Transportation.

Craig Shealy joined Cary Street Partners as managing director and group head of the energy & commodities team. Most recently, Shealy was chairman and managing partner of BlackCreek Group and president and chief executive officer of Osage Bio Energy. He attended Princeton University.

Construction

Thomas Deane joined EDC as a project superintendent. Deane was formerly with VCC Construction.

Joseph Sexton joined EDC as an estimator. He attended Virginia Tech.

Jeff Bradley will serve as president of the International Facility Management Association’s Richmond chapter for the 2011-12 year.

William Couper has been named chairman of the Virginia Bankers Association. Couper is Mid-Atlantic president of Bank of America. He attended the University of Virginia.

Jeffrey M. Szyperski has been named chairman-elect of the Virginia Bankers Association. Szyperski is the chairman, president and chief executive of Chesapeake Bank. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
