A Carytown restaurant wants to take its burgers to Short Pump.

Burger Bach, which just finished its first year in business, is eyeing a second location at West Broad Village next to the new ACAC gym, said owner Michael Ripp.

“West Broad Village has all the dynamics we’re looking for,” he said. “It’s got the new ACAC, Whole Foods and the Children’s Museum, which has thousands of visitors. It has, in my mind, the best neighborhood feel of anywhere in the West End.”

Ripp, a Richmond native, said all the financials are in place for the second Burger Bach (pronounced “batch”) but that the details were still being negotiated with West Broad Village.

Startup costs for the location will run between $400,000 and $800,000, Ripp said, and he hopes to have it open in July, assuming the deal gets done.

The space it is considering is 2225 Old Brick Road. Harrison Hall, a broker with NAI Eagle, is working the deal.

“We look forward to finalizing a deal,” Hall said in an email to BizSense, “and we are sure they will be an excellent addition to West Broad Village.”

Ripp opened his first Burger Bach in March in North Thompson Street in Carytown, across from Elwood Thompson’s.

West Broad Village has two other restaurants in the works, including a Carrabba’s Italian Grill and Chuy’s, a Tex-Mex joint scheduled to open in March. The retail portion and apartments at West Broad Village were sold to the California-based Excel Realty Trust in October for $150 million.

always interesting to see if a non chain restaurant can make it in short pump. It is packed every night in carytown, but maybe that means they need another location in the Fan…
