Departures

G. Gilmer Minor III, chairman of Owens & Minor, will step down from the SunTrust board of directors. He has been on the board since 1998.

Alex Arnett will leave Arnett & Associates, where he worked as an associate for sales and client services. He has been with the company since 2008.

Yvonne W. Brandon will step down June 30 from her post as Richmond Public Schools superintendent. The board has not named an interim or replacement superintendent.

Brian McLellon joined Virginia Credit Union as business relationship manager. Previously, he was an assistant vice president in the real estate finance group of TowneBank. He attended Hampden-Sydney College.

Higher education

David B. Hale will join the University of Richmond as vice president for business and finance and treasurer. Hale has been vice president for finance and administration and treasurer at Colgate University since 1993 and has more than 25 years of industry experience.

William A. Royall Jr. has been elected president of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts board of trustees. He will assume office July 1. Thurston Moore of Hunton & Williams has served as president for the past three years. Royall is a member of the board of visitors of Virginia Commonwealth University, and he previously served on the board of visitors of George Mason University.

BrownGreer announced the following promotions:

Nicholas U. Becker has been promoted to counsel. Becker joined the firm in 2011 and attended William and Mary and the Florida State University School of Law.

Thomas M. Coatsworth has been promoted to counsel. Thomas joined the firm in 2012, and he attended the University of Washington and the University of Virginia.

Devin D. Pope has been promoted to counsel. She joined the firm in 2011 and attended the University of Richmond.

Lola D. Edwards has been promoted to senior analyst. Edwards joined the firm in 2010 and attended Virginia Commonwealth University.

Garrett L. Sawyer has been promoted to senior analyst. He joined the firm in 2008. Sawyer attended the University of Virginia and Strayer University, and he serves as a member of the board of trustees for the University of Virginia.

Jeremy Brown joined as a deskside support specialist.
Derrick Oates Sr. joined as a deskside support specialist.

John Markowitz was promoted to vice president of public finance at Stifel, Nicolaus & Company. Markowitz specializes in infrastructure finance, tax increment finance and land secured finance. He attended the University of Virginia and joined the firm 2007.

Sandler Passman joined John B. Levy & Company as an equity banker. He will be involved in a wide range of investment services in commercial real estate ventures. He attended Colby College and Vanderbilt University.

Insurance

Kinsale Insurance announced the following hires:

Craig Philp joined as an associate underwriter in the small-business division.

Amanda Snead joined as a claims examiner.
