A Shockoe Bottom pizza joint is shutting its doors Wednesday and plans to reopen this weekend under a new name.

Sette Fire Roasted Pizza is expanding into a 1,700-square-foot space adjacent to its location at 7 N. Main St. and launching 23rd & Main Kitchen & Taproom. The new restaurant, which will feature 12 new taps and add 38 seats, plans to serve its first customers July 6.

“We’re going to be focusing on the craft beers that are so popular right now,” said Sette managing partner Brian Rivers.

The company picked up the lease for the 23rd and Main addition about seven months ago, Rivers said, and the rebranding is about two years in the making.

Work began in March, and Ashland-based M.L. Bell is the contractor for the project. Rivers would not disclose the cost of the improvements.

Sette has been in business for more than eight years. 23rd & Main Kitchen & Taproom will feature a slightly different menu, River said, adding American bistro fare to Sette’s pizza offerings. The new restaurant will also have extended hours.

I hope they don’t change too much. My wife and I love their pizza, salad and half off wine night.

What’s with all these RVA restaurants? Why do they keep closing and changing owners and confusing diners by changing their names? This great little pizza place just changed its name from Sette (5 letters) to 23rd and Main Kitchen and Taproom (29 letters).
Ugggh.
Becky’s was called Becky’s for 47 years. Last year, they changed the named to Cary 100 Restaurant and Lounge. They had 3 people in there yesterday for lunch.
Good luck getting anyone to remember “23rd and Main Kitchen and Taproom” .
Why do restaurant owners destroy their own brands with “geographic” names?

Agree with the two commenters here. Its fine to expand, but just leave the name and keep what people love. Wish them best of luck, and will continue to support them. Great pizza and salads!
