Preventing equipment fouling via corrosion reduction
Patent No. 9,382,629
An embodiment prevents equipment fouling (deposition of unwanted material) in an oil recovery system via implementing passivation of metallic components. By preventing or at least slowing or inhibiting corrosion of equipment or components via passivation, such as passivating heat exchangers, metallic piping, and the like, an embodiment in turn reduces fouling thereof. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Oximation of KA oil by-product
Patent No. 9,382,195
The present disclosure provides methods for separating ketones and alcohols. In one embodiment, the methods and compositions disclosed are useful in separating cyclohexanol from cyclohexanone. In one embodiment, cyclohexanone is converted to its corresponding oxime by treating the cyclohexanone with hydroxylamine. The resulting cyclohexanone oxime is then separated from the cyclohexanol, providing streams of cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone oxime.

Composite material; a ballistic resistant article made from same and method of making the article
Patent No. 9,381,728
A fiber reinforced resin composite for ballistic protection comprising a plurality of first and second plies wherein the first and second plies further comprise a woven fabric and a polymeric resin. The fabric has a Russell tightness factor of from 0.2 to 0.7 and a cover factor of at least 0.45, The fabric is impregnated with the resin, the resin comprising from 5 to 30 weight percent of the total weight of fabric plus resin. The fabric of each first and second ply comprises regions wherein the fabric is distorted from an orthogonal woven state by a distortion angle of least 30 degrees. The composite may further comprising a third ply having a surface area no greater than 50% of the surface area of a first and second ply. The ratio of the number of first plus second plies to the number of third plies is from 2:1 to 12:1.

Compositions and methods for treating clostridium infection and preventing recurrence of infection
Patent No. 9,387,199
C. difficile infection (CDI) is the most common cause of antibiotic-associated diarrhea. Unfortunately, antibiotic therapy remains as the standard treatment for this antibiotic-induced disease and relapses are common. Antibiotic treatment typically is given for 10 to 14 days for initial or second episode of CDI. For recurrent episodes, more prolonged courses are recommended. It is disclosed herein that lower dose or shorter course of the antimicrobial treatment is sufficient to treat the disease and prevent recurrent disease by enabling a good immunologic response to infection, and perhaps also by better preserving normal flora, thus protecting against relapses or reinfection.
