Coming spring 09: Boulevard Movie Theater Print E-mail
Tuesday, 15 July 2008 18:17

A new movie theater on North Boulevard in Richmond will be showing flicks in early 2009, according to a mondo banner that went up this week. Bow Tie Partners, the NY-based developer, is calling the project Boulevard Square. The theater is slated to be called Movieland. It will be the only theater in the City of Richmond to play first-run pictures.

Bow Tie has new renderings up on their website. (Notice the small cars.)

The NY-based developer said it thinks that the theater will help stimulate development along the Boulevard. It also has said it wants to lease 6,000 square feet to a restaurant operator.

Several months ago, BizSense was unable to get a comment about how a Braves exit could affect the momentum of development along the industrial strip.

The building was originally built in the 1880s to assemble locomotives. More recently it was a plant for Richmond Steel Inc. Bow Tie also owns a city block between Third and Fourth streets and Main and Cary streets. That project is called Jefferson Square.
