The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts is accepting nominations for the Muse Award, which goes out annually to a creative business in Richmond. The deadline is March 12.

According to the VMFA, the award honors Virginia companies whose unique and creative approaches to business challenge traditional thinking.

“Creativity is a powerful yet often unrecognized component of success, and its application within the Virginia business community is helping to shape the commonwealth into a diverse and dynamic region,” said VMFA Business Council chair Eddie Gugelman of SunTrust.

More than 70 businesses were nominated for last year’s awards. The Top Muse award winner for 2008 was Catalyst, a real estate development company honored for converting abandoned store fronts into mini art galleries. Other winners last year included the Art Cheerleaders, Belmont Butchery, Impact Makers, Momentum Resources, Project: SoldierHelp, Ravenchase Adventures, Stephens & Co., and Watershed Architects.

Top Muse award winners for previous years include Intrinergy, kSERO Centers of the Mind, and Intelliject.

The 2009 awards are to be given April 30 at what organizers call the “Un-Gala,” which is held at the museum.
