New restaurants closing Print E-mail

At least two new restaurants have closed.

Style Weekly reported this week that ice-themed dance club/lounge Infuzion has closed after about eight months in operation. The club had an ice room where patrons donned parkas. One former employee told BizSense that the club’s owners went over the top and spent too much money on the build out. The project was way behind schedule, he said. There were also problems with management and with hiring.

It also appears that Cirrus, a swanky restaurant/bar at 1731 West Main Street in the Fan, has closed. BizSense is still trying to reach the restaurant’s owners. Residents in the area said they didn't know it had closed.

Look for a comprehensive article about the state of the restaurant industry – complete with extensive statistics – in coming weeks.

Maybe they should have spent more money on advertising and less on ice.

Fact is Infuzion and Cirrus have ownership in their demise. Richmond has more and more restaurants and the competition is fierce. Infuzion (I admit I never went) seemed like a dumb idea to me from the start, especially with the $$$$ required to develop and maintain it. Ate at Cirrus once and it was a below average experience from food to service to atmosphere...had no intentions on ever going back.
