Circuit City lays off hundreds

circuitcity2Updated: 9:52 a.m. Electronics retailer Circuit City laid off as many as 1,000 employees at their corporate headquarters in Henrico this morning, according to an employee inside the company. The Times-Dispatch is reporting that the number is between 600 and 1,000.

A media spokesperson for the company did not confirm or deny the layoff number “out of respect for current associates.”

On Monday the electronics retailer announced the closure of 155 stores and the lay-off of more than 7,000 employees nationwide.
