A local car dealer has expanded its Central Virginia empire.
Haley Automotive Group acquired a controlling interest of Mooers Volvo of Richmond and Mooers Volvo of Midlothian, the company announced Wednesday.
The dealership’s name won’t change.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Haley president Doug Pridgen said he and Mooers president Ron Ferguson have been friends for 30 years. In striking the deal, Ferguson was looking for a way to stay involved with the dealership but reduce his daily requirements with the Volvo stores, Pridgen said in an email.
“[We] both were very familiar with each other’s operations and knew it would be a good fit,” he said.
As part of the deal, Ferguson has become a stockholder in the Haley Automotive Group.
Haley operates six dealerships in the state, including four in the Richmond area: Haley Ford at 10724 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Haley Buick GMC at 9811 Midlothian Turnpike, Haley Certified at 8301 Midlothian Turnpike and Haley Toyota Scion at 3600 Lonas Pkwy.
The Mooers Volvo locations at 7211 West Broad St. and 11960 Midlothian Turnpike will keep their names, said Judi Anderson, a spokesperson for Haley.
