The invention is directed to formation and use of electroprocessed collagen, including use as an extracellular matrix and, together with cells, its use in forming engineered tissue. The engineered tissue can include the synthetic manufacture of specific organs or tissues which may be implanted into a recipient. The electroprocessed collagen may also be combined with other molecules in order to deliver substances to the site of application or implantation of the electroprocessed collagen. The collagen or collagen/cell suspension is electrodeposited onto a substrate to form tissues and organs.

Metal-containing nanowires prepared using mesoporous molecular sieves as templates, and their use in smoking articles for removing certain gas phase constituents from tobacco smoke

Cut filler compositions, smoking articles such as cigarettes, methods for making cigarettes and methods for treating cigarette smoke are provided, which involve the use of metal-containing nanowires. The metal-containing nanowires are capable of removing at least one constituent from tobacco smoke, preferably in a selective manner. The metal-containing nanowires may comprise any suitable metal, metal oxide or mixtures thereof. For example, the metal-containing nanowires comprise at least one transition or lanthanide metal or metal oxide thereof. Exemplary metals or metal oxides thereof include, but are not limited to, iron, copper, zinc, titanium, vanadium, palladium, cobalt, molybdenum and manganese. The metal-containing nanowires may be produced by (i) loading at least one metal-containing composition into a mesoporous molecular sieve substrate via repeated incipient-wetness impregnation followed by stepwise calcination to form said nanowires; and (ii) isolating the nanowires by extracting the mesoporous molecular sieve substrate, e.g., with aqueous NaOH.

Method and apparatus for making cigarette filters with a centrally located flavored element

A filter making apparatus includes a positioning device having a passageway therethrough, with the passageway guiding a continuous flavor element such as a continuous strand of textile material from an inlet of the passageway to an outlet of the passageway. A liquid flavorant is introduced into the passageway at a desired flow rate and the strand of material carries the supplied liquid flavorant out of the positioning device at a rate substantially equal to the desired flow rate. A portion of the passageway can form a bath of the liquid flavorant supplied to the passageway through a separate inlet at approximately atmospheric pressure. A portion of the positioning device guides the continuous strand of material through the bath, or guides the strand to pass along the bottom of the passageway, and the saturated or partially saturated strand of material then exits from an outlet of the passageway to a point in the path of filter tow material that is being converged to form a filter rod.

The herbal powder mixture is steeped in an amount of carrier oil for a period of time to form an infused oil. A remainder of the amount of olive oil is combined with the infused oil. An amount of jojoba oil is combined with the infused oil. An amount of rosemary oil is combined with the infused oil. An amount of lavender oil is combined with the infused oil. The natural mixture is combined with the infused oil. The infused oil is settled for a period of time to form the topical hair care formulation.

A kitchen appliance includes a housing defining a cavity. A heating or cooling element is disposed within the housing. A container is sized and shaped to fit within the cavity. A lid is sized and shaped to at least partially cover an opening of the container. A handle is pivotally mounted to an exterior surface of the side wall of the housing. A first end of the handle is pivotally mounted to the side wall of the housing at a first location. An opposing second end of the handle is pivotally mounted to side wall of the housing at a second location diametrically opposed to the first location. The handle is pivotable between an engaged position which at least a portion of the handle retains the lid in sealing engagement with the container rim and disengage position in which the portion of the handle is spaced-apart from the lid.

In addition, the example mailer includes a second fastener pattern included on at least one of the first face of the first panel or the first face of the second panel to releasably adhere a second portion of the first face of the first panel to a second portion of the first face of the second panel. The second fastener pattern and at least a portion of the first fastener pattern define an area that is not visible when the first face of the first panel is releasably adhered to the first face of the second panel and a third portion of the first face of the first panel and a third portion of the second face of the second panel are separated from each other.
