Corner control
Patent No. 8,878,777
Methods, program products, and systems for corner control are described. Each of the four corners of a rectangular display field can be individually configured to be a rounded corner or an angled corner. In some implementations, a method can include providing a user interface item for display. The user interface item can include four control elements. Each of the control elements can correspond to a corner of a display field. Each of the control elements can individually and independently control a shape of the corresponding corner of the display field. The display field can have one or more corners in rounded shape and one or more corners in angled shape, according to user input received through the user interface item.

Device and method for vaginal sacrocolpopexy
Patent No. 8,876,693
A surgical procedure for repairing vaginal prolapse, including apical descent (vaginal vault or uterine descensus), cystocele and/or rectocele, avoids bladder injury, the need for laparoscopic suturing, and difficulties in tensioning the mesh used to hold the vagina in the correct anatomical position, and can be practiced with off the shelf components. The procedure typically comprises exposing a female patient’s peritoneum; making a peritoneal incision (e.g. over the patient’s sacrum); mobilizing the peritoneum; incising the patient’s vagina and attaching the anterior and posterior surfaces of a first (e.g. generally rectangular) mesh component, with a truncated stem and first locking element, to the apex of the patient’s vagina; passing a mesh base component having a second locking element at a distal end, and a proximal end, underneath the peritoneum; moving the first and second locking elements together into locking relationship; anchoring the mesh base (e.g. to the sacrum, so that the mesh components suspend the vaginal apex from the sacrum); and closing the peritoneal incision. Particular mesh components with locking elements, and a surgical spreader for use in the procedure, are desirable.

Optical attachment for reducing the focal length of an objective lens
Patent No. 8,879,901
An optical attachment configured to be operably attached to the image side of an objective lens to reduce the focal length and focal ratio of the objective lens. The focal-reducing attachment includes four lens elements and has a magnification of between 0.5 and 1. The focal-reducing lens can work with objective lenses having relatively large working distances for a large format size as well as with cameras having a smaller format size and relatively small permissible working distance.

Method and system for authorizing card account transactions by geographic design
Patent No. 8,881,975
A method and system for authorizing card account transactions by geographic region by providing data for a user interface displaying geographic regions and merchant locations each corresponding to the location of a merchant where a transaction using a card account may be initiated, receiving a user interface selection representing a request to authorize or restrict card account transactions, receiving authorization requests for desired transactions, and authorizing or restricting the transactions in accordance with the request.

Railway track and switch weather protection barrier system
Patent No. 8,882,050
A railway track barrier system that includes a barrier extending along a rail adjacent a switch having an upper edge adjacent a rail head disposed within a wash zone thereof formed of deflector elements movable relative to one another permitting railway vehicle wheel and wash contact during train passage without barrier dislodgement or damage. The barrier is formed of a deflector acutely inclined toward the head and a downwardly extending skirt that conforms to uneven railway bed and tie surfaces. A preferred barrier is formed of oppositely extending brushes removably attached to a mounting bracket. The bracket can be attached to a hinge assembly that releasably latches the barrier in an operating position and that can be unlatched permitting the barrier to be swung away from the rail to an inspection position. A hinge pin with a manually graspable handle can be removed to detach the barrier for storage.
