Uninhabited test city
Patent No. 9,361,810
A full scale uninhabited test facility is configured for building modular man made structures, evaluating modular man made structures, evaluating use of modular man made structures, and/or for other purposes. The structures may be located in a user configurable simulated environment. One or more structures may be configured to simulate use by inhabitants in a simulated environment. After testing, the constructed structure(s) may remain where built in the simulated environment(s) until such time as another user may reconfigure the environments or structures. As additional structures are built and/or modified, new and old structures may operate side by side, generating opportunity, for example, to test new and/or different technology on the same structures.

Generator assembly and related devices
Patent No. 9,362,852
The current disclosure teaches and describes a generator assembly and related hand crank devices. One embodiment of the device may include a traditional generator, a handle and a crank link. The crank link is rotatably connected to the handle in a perpendicular position. A user may hold the handle and wield the hand crank device to make the crank link rotate around the handle like a clock hand, enabling the generator to provide power to the hand crank device. Such wielding motion may also be driven by other forces. The current design allows the user to charge the device with only one hand and with ease. In addition, the “functioning” components of the current hand crank device may be housed in or attached to either the handle or crank link, or both. Other components may also be introduced to make the generator assembly more efficient and easy to use.

Maximizing of energy delivery system compatibility with voltage optimization using AMI-based data control and analysis
Patent No. 9,367,075
A method, apparatus, system and computer program is provided for controlling an electric power system, including implementation of a voltage control and conservation (VCC) system used to optimally control the independent voltage and capacitor banks using a linear optimization methodology to minimize the losses in the EEDCS and the EUS. An energy validation process system (EVP) is provided which is used to document the savings of the VCC and an EPP is used to optimize improvements to the EEDCS for continuously improving the energy losses in the EEDS. The EVP system measures the improvement in the EEDS a result of operating the VCC system in the “ON” state determining the level of energy conservation achieved by the VCC system. In addition the VCC system monitors pattern recognition events and compares them to the report-by-exception data to detect HVL events. If one is detected the VCC optimizes the capacity of the EEDS to respond to the HVL events by centering the piecewise linear solution maximizing the ability of the EDDS to absorb the HVL event.

Copolymer fibers and processes for making same
Patent No. 9,365,952
The present invention concerns yarns comprising copolymer derived from the copolymerization of para-phenylenediamine, 5(6)-amino-2-(p-aminophenyl)benzimidazole; and terephthaloyl dichloride wherein the ratio of moles of 5(6)-amino-2-(p-aminophenyl)benzimidazole to the moles of para-phenylenediamine is 30/70 to 85/15. The yarns have a sulfur content greater than 0.1%; and have an effective polymer cation to sulfur content molar ratio of at least 0.3. Additional aspects of the invention concern methods of producing such yarns.

Antifoam additives for use in low viscosity applications
Patent No. 9,365,795
A lubricant composition comprising a major amount of a base oil having a kinematic viscosity between 2 and 8 cSt at 100.degree. C. and a minor amount of an additive composition represented by formula IV: ##STR00001## wherein x and y can be the same or different and (x+y) equals between 50 and 1,500 and m and n can be the same or different and Q is hydrogen or a monovalent organic group selected from the group consisting of C1-C8 alkyl, acetyl and isocyanato group of the formula –NCO.

Light-enabled drug delivery
Patent No. 9,364,551
Conjugates are provided which comprise a membrane permeable drug linked to a moiety that is not membrane permeable. Attachment of the moiety that is not membrane permeable prevents the drug from crossing cell membranes and entering cells. However, exposure to light either i) breaks the linkage, releasing the drug and allowing it to enter cells; or ii) converts the non-membrane permeable moiety to a membrane permeable form, allowing the entire conjugate to enter the cell, where the drug is released from the conjugate by cleavage. The membrane permeable drugs are thus delivered to cells at locations of interest, e.g. cancer cells in a tumor, in a temporally and spatially controlled manner.
