Apple Hospitality REIT (APLE)

The company closed on a previously announced acquisition of a 124-room Courtyard by Marriott in Fort Worth, Texas for a purchase price of $18 million. The acquisition brings Apple Hospitality’s portfolio to 236 hotels in 33 states.

Brink’s (BCO)

The armored-car giant reported its fourth quarter and full-year earnings for 2016. Revenues for the quarter totaled $804 million, up from $766 million the same three months of 2015. Quarterly profits totaled $58 million, up from $33 million the year before. Year-end revenues totaled $3.02 billion, down from $3.06 billion in 2015. Year-end profits totaled $144 million, up from $57 million in 2015.

Dominion (D)

The power company announced it is changing its name from Dominion Resources to Dominion Energy, in part to reflect last year’s merger with Questar Corp. The changes, which include a new logo, will be made later this year pending shareholder approval at the company’s annual meeting this spring.

Eastern Virginia Bankshares (EVBS)

The parent of EVB reported its fourth quarter and 2016 year-end financials. Net income for the quarter was $1.62 million, down from $2.16 million from the same period of 2015. Net income for the full year was $7.75 million, up from $7.29 million. The company’s total assets at year’s end were $1.34 billion, up from $1.25 billion. Read the full report here.

Genworth Financial (GNW)

Genworth reported its fourth quarter and year-end financials. Its cited a loss of $122 million for the quarter, an improvement from $292 million loss in the same period of 2015. Its loss for the full year 2016 was $277 million, compared to a loss of $615 million in 2015. See the full report here.

Markel (MKL)

The insurance underwriter reported its earnings for 2016. Fourth quarter revenues totaled $983 million, up from $958 million in 2015. Quarterly profits totaled $132 million, down from $198 million the year before. Revenues for the year totaled $3.86 billion, up from $3.82 billion in 2015. Annual profits totaled $460 million, down from $589 million the year before.

NewMarket (NEU)

Four executives were awarded bonuses for 2016. CEO Thomas Gottwald received a bonus of $650,000.

Performance Food Group (PFGC)

The foods distributor reported its earnings for 2016. Fourth quarter earnings totaled $4.05 billion, up from $3.89 billion the same quarter last year. Profits for the quarter totaled $22.9 million, up from $17.5 million in 2015. Revenues for the year totaled $8.09 billion, up from $7.82 billion in 2015. Profits for the year totaled $35 million, up from $29 million the year before.

Universal Corp. (UVV)

The tobacco giant reported its third quarter earnings. Revenues totaled $668 million, up from $584 million the year before. Profits totaled $57 million, up from $46 million the year before. Year-to-date revenues totaled $1.42 billion, up from $1.31 billion in 2015. Year-to-date profits totaled $76 million, up from $65 million the year before.

WestRock (WRK)

The packaging giant reported its earnings for the quarter that ended Dec. 31, 2016. Revenues totaled $3.44 billion, down from $3.47 billion the year before. Profits totaled $80 million, compared to a loss of $453 million the year before.
