Two residential properties in western Henrico County sold this month in deals that each topped the $2 million mark.

The 7,400-square-foot house at 643 Walsing Drive in Mooreland Landing sold Aug. 13 for $2.26 million, just above its asking price of $2.25 million. Farther east along the River Road corridor, an 11,800-square-foot house at 8 Berkshire Drive sold three days later for $2.04 million, below its latest list price of $2.15 million.

The 7-acre Walsing Drive property, which went under contract within a week of its May 6 listing, was purchased through an LLC named after the address. Local attorney Edward Kidd with Troutman Sanders registered the entity with the State Corporation Commission.

Joyner Fine Properties’ Richard Bower represented the mystery buyer and also listed the home for seller Jeffrey Congdon. Bower did not return a call seeking comment Tuesday.

Congdon was president of Old Dominion Truck Leasing, a family business based in Chesterfield County that was sold last year to Pennsylvania-based Penske Truck Leasing. Records show he purchased the property in 1991 with Kay D. Congdon for $297,000.

A Henrico County assessment most recently valued the property at $1.48 million.

Totaling five bedrooms and 5½ bathrooms, the 24-year-old brick Georgian home is located on the river side of a cul de sac near the Country Club of Virginia’s James River Course. The three-level house includes a two-story family room, wine-tasting room, third-floor exercise or play room, and three-car garage.

The house at 8 Berkshire Drive sold Aug. 16 to PPOD LLC, an entity registered with the SCC by Vernon Inge Jr. with Whiteford Taylor & Preston. The buyer was represented by Jeannette Mock with Re/Max Commonwealth.

Joyner agent Sue Farrell listed the house for seller Susan Brown. Farrell said she was the third agent to list the house for Brown over several years, following separate attempts by Long & Foster’s Nancy Frazier and Pam Diemer.

Farrell said Brown, a local pediatrician, was looking to downsize closer to her office and had a challenging time finding a good fit in an increasingly hot home-buying market.

“She didn’t know exactly where she was going to go, and she had something very particular in mind for square footage,” Farrell said. “With this in-town market being so challenging, she was having a hard time with inventory that would go in 24 hours.

“She went on and off the market. I brought her several offers, and the numbers worked for this one.”

Farrell listed the house in March at $2.15 million, below its previous listing of $2.19 million in 2016. The latest county assessment valued the 3-acre property at $1.83 million.

The four-level home totals five bedrooms and 6½ bathrooms. Built in 1971, the original 3,000-square-foot home was expanded in 2008 with an 8,000-square-foot addition that Farrell said became the central structure, with the original house serving as a wing.

The house includes an elevator, basement theater room, rooms with 17-foot-high ceilings, three-car garage, and a heated pool and hot tub.

The two sales are the latest to hit the $2 million mark along the River Road corridor. In June, another Mooreland Farms house, at 201 Cyril Lane, sold for $2 million.

Farther east, 16 Country Squire Lane was listed in May for $2.9 million. Across the river in Chesterfield County, two $2 million listings hit the market earlier this year.
