Hanover

Supervisors meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. Business includes public hearings on the 323-acre Lake District at Glen Allen mixed-use development proposed by Boyd Homes on the east side of Mountain Road across from Cobblestones Park. Full agenda here.

The planning commission meets Thursday at 7 p.m. Public hearings will be held on requests including a solar power facility by OneEnergy Development LLC proposed for 226 acres straddling River Road west of Mechanicsville Turnpike. Full agenda here.

Henrico

Supervisors meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. Business includes a board paper deferring a decision on whether to proceed with negotiations on two proposals being considered for design and construction of an indoor sports and convocation center. The county is requesting that more information be included in the proposals from Eastern Sports Management LLC and MEB General Contractors. Consulting firm The Working Group would make a recommendation on negotiations by Feb. 14.

Other business includes incorporating objectives of the Westwood Study Area and Route 5 Corridor Study in the county’s comprehensive plan. Also on the agenda is a public hearing on a proposed self-service storage facility at Woodman and Mountain roads.

Various contracts for county projects also will be considered. Details on those items and the rest of the agenda are available here.

Fire Chief Anthony McDowell was appointed deputy county manager for public safety effective Dec. 8. McDowell succeeds Douglas Middleton, who is retiring after 46 years with the county and more than 40 with Henrico Police.

Richmond

City Council was set to meet yesterday at 6 p.m. for its last regular meeting of the year, but was snowed out. Business on the schedule also included creation of the Navy Hill Development Advisory Commission to review the proposal by NH District Corp. that Mayor Levar Stoney endorsed and would present to council. Council will also consider an offer from Enrichmond Foundation to gift Vauxhall Island to the city and preserve it as part of the James River Park System.

Other council business includes requests to rezone properties at Chamberlayne Avenue and School Street for residential development, and to allow a 59-unit townhome development near Stony Point Shopping Center and a 224-unit apartment complex on Brook Road near Virginia Union University.
