Navy Hill project to be discussed at committee meeting

Richmond City Council’s Organizational Development Standing Committee meets Tuesday at 5 p.m. Business on the agenda includes an overview presentation of the proposed Navy Hill development by consulting firms Davenport & Co. and Hunden Strategic Partners. The meeting will be held in council chambers at City Hall. Full agenda available here.

The city Planning Commission meets Monday at 1:30 p.m. The agenda includes several items relating to the proposed Navy Hill project that are slated to be continued to another meeting. Full agenda available here.

Vote delayed on Lake District at Glen Allen project

Hanover supervisors delayed a vote on The Lake District at Glen Allen development proposed by Virginia Beach-based Boyd Homes, which requested the delay.

The 323-acre mixed-use project received a thumbs-down from the Planning Commission in July – the second such denial recommendation since the project was first proposed last year. The project has since been reworked with 415 fewer residential units proposed, bringing the current unit count to 1,787.

Goochland boards meet this week

Supervisors meet Tuesday at 3 p.m. and the Planning Commission meets Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Agendas available here.

Childcare business fills former auction house in Powhatan

Powhatan County’s economic development department announced the opening of Firefly Childcare at 2426 New Dorset Circle. The 8,550-square-foot building was previously home to Dixon Auctions and was renovated to include classrooms and playgrounds for 3-year-olds through eighth-graders. The facility also can be rented for events.
