The Richmond outpost of a Roanoke-based coffee shop chain has poured its last drop.

Shockoe Espresso and Roastery, operated by Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea, has shuttered at 104 Shockoe Slip.

A sign on the door states that the business is for sale. Several inquiries to Mill Mountain weren’t returned, and company founder David Johnson did not respond to a message.

The closure was confirmed Wednesday by Thomas Asch of Shockoe Development, Inc., the cafe’s landlord. He declined to comment further. The space is about 2,300 square feet.

Mill Mountain Coffee and Tea operates four cafes in and around Roanoke, according to its website.

Shockoe Espresso is closing down just as Ever Better Coffee Co. is taking shape in the Fan. Lamplighter Coffee Roasters recently closed its cafe near VCU as it navigates the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. A new tea shop, T-Caf, Salon de Thé, recently opened in Scott’s Addition.
