Two West End houses across the street from each other led the pack of the area’s priciest home sales in March.

Topping the list was 6317 Three Chopt Road, a 6,600-square-foot house that sold March 21 for $2.7 million, above its Feb. 3 list price of $2.5 million.

Margaret Wade with Long & Foster had the listing, representing sellers Jeff and Anne Lamb. Jeff Lamb is an executive with specialty insurer Markel Corp.

The bathroom for one of the home’s two primary suites features a central glass-walled shower.

Long & Foster’s Eliza Branch represented the mystery buyer, who bought the house through an LLC. The house was put under contract 14 days after listing.

The Lambs purchased the house in 2016 for $1.3 million, property records show. The city most recently assessed the 0.7-acre property at $1.7 million.

Totaling five bedrooms, four bathrooms and three half-baths, the two-story house was built in 1935 and added onto in 2019. The addition, designed by local architect Terry Cox, includes a first-floor primary suite, kitchen and laundry/mud room, as well as a lower-level walkout family room and an upper-level guest room.

The rear of the house includes two covered patios and other gathering areas.

The house also has a renovated second-floor primary suite with walk-in closets and an upgraded bathroom. The rest of the bathrooms have also been renovated.

The property includes a Charles Gillette-designed garden, two covered patios, a deck and a firepit.

The home at 6310 Three Chopt Road was the second-priciest sale in March.

Across the street, the 5,500-square-foot house at 6310 Three Chopt Road came in at No. 2 on the list with its March 8 sale at $2.5 million. The five-bedroom, 5½-bathroom house was listed Jan. 27 at $2.2 million and went under contract 11 days later.

Patricia Ray Barton and Robert Barton Jr. with Joyner Fine Properties co-listed the house for seller Karen Adams. Adams is CEO of Hot Technology Holdings, a local entrepreneur and investor group.

Patricia Barton said Adams is getting married and building a new house at Swift Creek School of Equitation, a horse-riding school in Manakin-Sabot that she purchased with soon-to-be husband John Fernandez. Fernandez owned Ashland-based Daystar Desserts before selling the business in 2015.

An eat-in area off the kitchen connects with a billiards room.

“We had multiple offers, and the highest one came from a cash buyer from Chicago,” said Barton, who’s represented Adams in previous home deals.

Property records list the buyers as Lyndon and Lisa Cooper, who were represented by Sherry Beran and Kristin Krupp with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville Real Estate. Lyndon Cooper was named dean of the VCU School of Dentistry in January. Lisa is an environmental attorney, Barton said.

Adams purchased the house in 2017 for $1.5 million, records show. The roughly 1-acre property was most recently assessed at $1.8 million.

The house’s lower level includes a wine cellar.

Built in 1906, the two-story house has restored original hardwood floors on the main level, which includes a family room and office, both with fireplaces. The ground floor also includes a kitchen with eat-in area and one of two primary suites in the home. The second suite and other bedrooms are on the second floor, and the house’s lower level includes a wine bar and exercise room.

The month’s top five sales included an off-market deal that came in at No. 5. Rounding out the list were, according to the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service:

Me too! It was Prosciutto from Italy and the wine cellar smelled amazing! (Someone said it reminded them of walking into Stuffy’s…lol)
