A century-old house on one of the largest lots fronting the Country Club of Virginia’s Westhampton golf course has been put up for sale, just days before another seven-figure listing hit the market across the street.
The 7,000-square-foot Georgian-style house at 6124 Saint Andrews Lane was listed last week with an asking price of $4.5 million. Doug Dorsey with Shaheen, Ruth, Martin & Fonville Real Estate has the listing.
The sellers are Basil and Sarah Hurst, property records show. Basil “Beau” Hurst is a managing director with credit company Golub Capital’s New York office and is on the MCV Foundation Board of Trustees. Sarah Hurst is an interior designer.
The house overlooks CCV’s Westhampton course.
Dorsey would not address why the Hursts are listing the house, which they bought in 2007 for $2.8 million. The 1.3-acre property is assessed by the city at nearly $2.6 million.

Dorsey said this might be the first time the house has been listed publicly since it sold in 1991. It hit the Central Virginia Regional Multiple Listing Service on May 22, and Dorsey said showings start May 30 with nine already lined up.
“The activity’s been great for $4.5 million. I think a lot of people who’ve played that golf course literally walk by – there’s a tee box right there – and have seen it for years and years, so it’s sort of neat that it’s being offered for anybody to show up and take a look.”
Built in 1922, the brick-and-slate house is 2½ stories and has six bedrooms and 5½ renovated bathrooms. It also includes a renovated kitchen, formal rooms with French doors, a home office, a wine cellar and a two-car garage.
The sellers have made renovations to the kitchen and bathrooms.
“It’s different from the usual architecture,” Dorsey said. “You walk in and there’s a beautiful hallway, but there’s a cozy den with a fireplace and then a nice, big living room. Lots of French doors, so there’s a lot of light, that open out to these terraces that just have this beautiful view of the golf course.”
The westward-facing lot is one of the largest fronting the course and features hillside views of the golf course toward the river. Tow Path Lane with an asking price of $3.75 million. Dorsey is also the agent on that listing, which he said is getting interest that could overlap with his Saint Andrews showings.
“Both of these houses are going to require somebody that just falls in love with what’s there and chooses that lifestyle: if you want to be on the golf course or if you want to have that James River view.”

Huntley Davenport, who died in 2018, was a CCV president and worked at Wells Fargo Advisors for 50 years, according to an obituary. The three children include Jill Davenport, Marguerite “Peggy” Nichols and Gib Davenport, Mary Davenport’s husband.
