The golf on April Fool’s Day was no joke this week at The Federal Club in Hanover, where 34 teams teed off in the fourth annual BizSense Golf Tournament, presented by Blue Ridge Bank.
Topping the field with a 14-under score was the Bract Retaining Walls and Excavating team of Brian Bock, Caroline Cahill, Nichole Inkel and Aaron McCullough, who finished the par 72 course in 58 strokes.
The foursome also won “Best Dressed Team,” and Cahill won the closest-to-the-pin prize. David Moore of Superior Signs’ team had the longest drive.
Tying for the day’s second-best score with a 12 under par were the Okonite team of Spencer Feight, James Overton, Arnold Singleton and Richard Utley, and the foursome of Mike Chaney, Danny Ellis, Charley Farren and John O’Reilly, representing Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Base Camp.
The winner of the 50/50 raffle prize took home $720, and $720 was donated to local youth nonprofit Girls for a Change.
Announcements were made by Blue Ridge Bank Market President Chris Layne. Mercedes-Benz of Richmond’s hole-in-one prize went unclaimed.
