Panda Express is cooking up a new location in Chesterfield County.
The chain of Chinese eateries recently spent $1.6 million on a 1.3-acre undeveloped outparcel site at Cosby Village Square, where it plans to build a restaurant.
The seller in the deal was an LLC tied to Main Street Homes, which is developing the commercial center that is still taking shape and is part of the larger Cosby Village mixed-use development.
The Panda Express parcel is at 15842 Hull Street Road and sits between an upcoming Starbucks and in-progress dental office. Both the coffee shop and dentist office were largely complete and had “coming soon” signage outside them Tuesday.
It wasn’t clear when the restaurant was anticipated to open. Panda Express didn’t respond to a request for comment.
Panda Express will join the Chipotle and Panera restaurants that are already open at the center. Also open there is Kline’s Dairy Bar, an out-of-town ice cream shop that also has locations in the Shenandoah Valley and Lynchburg. Kline’s bought its outparcel at Cosby Village Square about a year ago and opened this summer.
Thalhimer announced the Panda Express land deal last week. Connie Jordan Nielsen and Alicia Brown of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer handled the transaction on behalf of both the buyer and seller.
Panda Express has at least one other location in the works in Chesterfield at the Courthouse Landing development.
There is another Panda Express by the Wegman’s in Stone Village.
Panera, Starbucks, Chipotle, and Panda Express? Chesterbraska dining options read like a lousy terminal at a midsize airport in flyover land.
Apparently, only conglomerate chain restaurants peddling fast-food can afford to operate in today’s rigged economy. “Scale! Scale!”
Sprawl, strip-malls, throw-away homes, and chain fast-food. How novel.
I won’t pay the fast food prices
