A combo physical therapy clinic and yoga studio is brewing in Union Hill.
The Second Arrow is planning to open in July in the ground-floor commercial level of a mixed-use building at 2200 Carrington St.
Behind the concept is Leah Johnson, who has a background as a physical therapist and yoga instructor. She’s bringing her vocations together under one roof to give her physical therapy clients a convenient segue to build on their treatment with regular activity by way of yoga classes.
“With my model, the idea is to have better outcomes and shorter time in physical therapy,” Johnson said. “The yoga is to get them active and established (in a routine).”
Hour-long physical therapy evaluations are $250, with follow-up treatments ranging from $75 to $105. Unlimited yoga memberships are $125 a month, per the company’s website.

Coffee is also part of the model.
Johnson is planning to have a self-service coffee bar where people can buy cold brew and drip coffee, tea and gluten-free pastries. She said the coffee area, which would also be equipped with French presses, is intended to encourage people to come early and stick around after their sessions to socialize.
“People can come before and stay after to build community,” Johnson said. “You walk in and there will be that monitor that you can swipe through and choose what you want.”
Second Arrow plans to source pastries from Two and a Half Irishmen. Johnson said she was still in discussions with potential coffee suppliers.
The business would feature indoor and outdoor seating, and Johnson plans to eventually open the coffee bar during the weekends. Initially, Second Arrow plans to be open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Johnson has been a physical therapist for more than six years and a yoga instructor for 15 years. She said she’s taught yoga locally for a decade, as well as in Costa Rica.
Second Arrow is preparing to open in a relatively new three-story building developed by Bryan Traylor’s Unlimited Renovations. The project at the corner of Carrington and North 22nd streets also features nine apartments above the 1,300-square-foot commercial storefront leased by Second Arrow.
Nathan Hughes and Betsy Mangum of Sperity Real Estate Ventures represented the landlord in lease negotiations.
