A Glen Allen physical therapy practice has expanded to Petersburg.
HealthSource Chiropractic & Progressive Rehab opened its first Petersburg office on Friday, filling what it believes is a need in that part of the region. The practice’s new space is 2,000 square feet at 34 C. Medical Park Blvd. across from Southside Regional Medical Center.
Kelly Wood, the owner of HealthSource, said she has had her eyes on Petersburg since founding the practice on West Broad Street a little more than two years ago.
“We’ve had this in the works from the beginning to do a second one,” Wood said.
The practice, which mainly focuses on treating neck pain, lower back pain, arthritis and migraines, saw a good percentage of its patients coming from the Petersburg area.
“About 10 percent of our patients are coming from Petersburg and Colonial Heights,” Wood said. “There are not a lot of rehab places out here.”
Wood said most patients come in for treatment for injuries from car wrecks or other work-related injuries.
“Our main goal is to try to do rehab for people and keep them working,” she said.
Latrice Jordan will lead the Petersburg practice, along with three other staff members. The practice now has a total of 10 staff members.
HealthSource is a national chain with 298 offices in the United States including locations in Front Royal and Fredericksburg. And Wood said the local office has even bigger expansion plans in mind and will look to eventually add five clinics to the Richmond Tri-City area.
