County officials have pitched a conceptual plan for the former Matoaca Elementary School that includes apartments for seniors and single-family homes. The school closed in spring 2021.
“If the legislature makes progress on creating a retail market, it’ll be interesting to see what happens to the timeline,” Jeremy Preiss told BizSense.
“The Activities Center was built in the 1990s when our enrollment was roughly a third of what it is today,” said New Community School’s Dan Stackhouse. “We have far outgrown the existing space in terms of enrollment but also in the size and scope of our health and wellness programs.”
The mall recently filed a request for a commercial lifestyle center license, which would allow visitors to consume alcoholic beverages in common areas.
