Juan More Taco is preparing to open at 304 N. Robinson St., while Nuevo Mexico Restaurante #2 is heading to 301 N. Robinson St. 

“A $15.99 shake that you can’t finish is fun for a novelty, but nobody is going to come every week to get that,” one of the new owners said of their plans for new offerings.

The owners of the chain’s Midlothian location have signed on to operate at Richmond Eats, a ghost kitchen in Scott’s Addition. 

The owners of the Hofheimer building in Scott’s Addition are reinventing the property’s namesake restaurant.

A local real estate investor has teamed with a restaurant industry veteran to take over the restaurant, which became independent after the Virginia Barbeque franchise system collapsed a few years ago. 

They will join Chipotle, Raising Cane’s and Starbucks, whose buildings are already under construction at the Thalhimer Realty Partners project on Arthur Ashe Boulevard.

EAT Restaurant Partners President Chris Tsui said a pending lawsuit has “no effect on the forward progress of the food hall,” and that they’re looking to award construction contracts in the next few weeks. 

Scott’s Addition’s first planned food hall has become the subject of a legal battle, while a parking lot dispute elsewhere in the neighborhood continues to play out in court.

“We talked about it when we would purchase packaged ethnic food like Indian and Thai. Like, ‘Couldn’t you see Ethiopian food in this market?’ It’s something we’ve dreamed of.”

“This small space is begging people to come drink liquor and swim into the sounds,” Josh Novicki said of the new concept.
