The golf on April Fool’s Day was no joke this week at The Federal Club in Hanover, where 34 teams teed off in the fourth annual BizSense Golf Tournament, presented by Blue Ridge Bank.

With a new season underway and a brand-new women’s club set to debut, the Richmond Kickers are looking to spruce up their stadium. 

“We’re taking the leap west,” said Lee Warfield, who also is CEO of locally based commercial real estate giant Thalhimer. “We feel like we’ve created a really great brand that’s already well known in the state and in Roanoke.”

Allie Wine spent 12 years working in financial planning before deciding she was ready for a change of pace and found one that tapped into her passion for dance.

Left without a clear leader after losing out on a deal that would have given it a new owner and a needed financial boost, the century-old club is plotting its future with an unlikely set of bosses at the helm.

Three courses in particular are seen as potential contenders to take on the tournament when its run at Country Club of Virginia ends next year.
