The opening of a Short Pump Kroger has been postponed.
The Corner At Short Pump, a 47-acre retail and residential development on West Broad Street at Lauderdale Drive, will feature a high-end, 86,000 square foot Kroger store when finished. But leasing agent Thalhimer, Cushman & Wakefield says the opening date for the store will likely be pushed back. Kroger was scheduled to be open by November 2009, but because of unanticipated construction delays, that date has been pushed back to sometime in the spring of 2010, according to sources from within the company.
There is no known connection between the delay and the economic slowdown, which has caused the delay or cancellation of other planned construction projects in the area. There’s also no word on whether the entire shopping center will be delayed along with Kroger’s building.
