Richmond, VA, June 3, 2009 – Three projects by James River Exteriors (JRE) were awarded best in their category at the second annual Home Building Association of Richmond’s (HBAR’s) Excellence in Remodeling 2009 Awards. JRE’s winning entries were for Façade Residential, Outdoor Living and Commercial categories.
Shane Burnette, vice president for James River Exteriors, notes that remodeling can be a good option in the current economy. “Homeowners are opting to remodel or upgrade instead of moving. Low interest rates are a good incentive to refresh your home to enjoy now, while increasing your home’s value. The latest housing industry reports show that exterior upgrades, window replacements and kitchen remodels still earn more than an 80% return,” notes Burnette. “Experienced contractors are more readily available, so jobs are completed faster. The HBAR’s Excellence in Remodeling Awards were presented on Thursday, May 21, 2009 and featured keynote speaker Thomas E. Jacobsen, Director of Revitalization for Chesterfield County, Virginia. Regional architects, designers, building professionals, and newspaper and magazine editors judged this year’s entries. The area’s best residential and commercial remodeling projects were chosen based on craftsmanship, appearance and complexity. Consideration was also given for innovation and functionality, overcoming challenges and how well each project met the client’s goals.
