RICHMOND, Va., August 13, 2009 – Newly established Family Publications, Inc. today announces the launch of Richmond Family Magazine, a free, full-color, monthly publication for parents that will be available on distribution racks all over Greater Richmond as of October 1, 2009.
According to Publisher Margaret Thompson, the new magazine fills a vacancy in the market that has existed since All About Kids Magazine halted publication at the end of last year.
“All About Kids had a fabulous look and an established readership,” Thompson said. “It’s unfortunate that it went away, but Richmond Family is picking up where it left off, with the same editor, and many of the same talented local writers and great content.”
Managing Editor Karen Schwartzkopf said the editorial mission of Richmond Family Magazine is to help parents in Richmond build healthy families —to inspire, educate, inform and entertain.
“Parents will pick up Richmond Family Magazine because it’s a great read,” Schwartzkopf said. “In the current culture, parents want to be lifted up a little, to be inspired and delighted for a change.”
Chris Woody, the new magazine’s director of advertising sales, said the Richmond ad landscape has been missing a way to reach family decision makers.
“Parents are a highly sought after and profitable demographic. Richmond Family Magazine will allow businesses to get in front of this segment with their message,” Woody said.
Family Publications, Inc., was established in 2009 and is co-owned by Tom Noakes and Margaret Thompson, who also operate MarketShare, Inc., a local marketing and advertising firm with a 17-year history of serving clients throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

I was so disappointed to realize All About Kids was no more, but am so very happy to read that a new magazine will be hitting the shelves soon, filling the gaping whole! Good luck, can’t wait to see the first issue.
