Marching to the beat of a different drum: Richmond’s signature teambuilding improves employee morale and boosts productivity in a soft economy

August 31, 2010- Richmond, VA—In this soft economy, Challenge Discovery, the most innovative team building organization on the east coast, is beating a different drum. They’ve launched a new company, Signature Teambuilding, to address the rapidly changing needs of businesses and their employees. Signature Teambuilding’s new portable Full Circle Drumming program brings teambuilding on site and harnesses the universal power of music to inspire communication, cooperation, and to break down barriers.

Full Circle Drumming uses drums to bring all kinds of people together to make music.  First it’s important to know that no prior drumming experience is necessary. A facilitator begins each session by teaching basic skills. As the team begins playing, the facilitator leads them in developing their playing skills – and their communication skills – even further. One key objective is to quickly build the group’s skill level to the point that it can play complex polyrhythms, in which a number of independent rhythms are played simultaneously.

It’s fun. It’s dynamic. It requires communication and cooperation. And it’s great for getting corporate teams to interact in a different way.

By the end of the program, every team member feels a sense of exhilaration from having used cooperation rather than competition to create something real, together. They’ve also heightened their interpersonal skills and learned how to really listen to one other. The goodwill they’ve felt toward one another combined with these improved skills translate very effectively back to the workplace.

Signature Teambuilding Program Director, Greg Huber, says that the Full Circle Drumming program is perfect for the challenges of today’s corporate environment.

“There’s so much fear in organizations right now. Employees feel less valued, and many are searching. This program gets them out of their silos to foster communication, build trust and enhance relationships. And for those watching the bottom line, this program is an inexpensive investment that lets employees know they’re valued, trusted, and supported.”

All of Signature Teambuilding and Challenge Discovery’s programs and events promote cooperation, communication, and personal empowerment, three elements that are crucial to job performance. The two companies offer comprehensive programs to school groups, sports teams, corporate and community groups on-site as well as at their facilities at the University of Richmond and in Doswell, VA.
