Richmond-based Free Agents Marketing has expanded to Hampton Roads.
The firm, which handles public relations, advertising, marketing and event management, opened its second office in September to branch out to health-care providers and new clientele.
The company started planning a push eastward in August 2008 when discussing the Hampton Roads area with Peter Bernard, CEO of Bon Secours Virginia.
“The health-care industry is a huge reason for our growth,” said Ken Wayland, president of Free Agents.
The firm has worked for Bon Secours for nine years and recently took over the health system’s statewide advertising.
That work has involved designing 15 websites for hospitals and and other health care practice groups.
The 40-employee firm, which has expanded four times in Richmond and has 10,000 square feet of space in the West End, expects revenue of more than $10 million this year, Wayland said.
Five people were hired, along with one Richmond FAM employee to manage the Hampton Roads office.
It took around six months to locate, staff and build the office, but it’s just a temporary location. The firm will be moving into its permanent location in 2011.
Wayland said an office in New York could be coming in the future.
