Melissa Skinner
has left the Alliance to Conserve Old Richmond Neighborhoods, where she worked in communications. Skinner went to Hollins College and Virginia Commonwealth University.

Harold W. Mitchell is retiring in March 2011 as the Ashland treasurer, a position he’s had for more than 30 years. His duties will be handled by Joshua S. Farrar, an assistant town manager.

Hires and promotions

Joshua S. Farrar, formerly assistant town manager in Ashland, has been named deputy town manager and finance director, which will include the role of treasurer. Most of Farrar’s former duties are being split between two other positions.

Technology

Nick Lewis has joined Easy Software Solutions as a software developer.  Lewis is a recent graduate of the University of Mary Washington.

Retail/marketing

Vicki Kiger has joined Martin’s as a community relations coordinator for the south region.

Marketing

Michael Zanconato, principal of Mazmedia, has joined the marketing firm PUNCH. Zanconato has also worked at the Martin Agency.

Media

David McNamara joined CRT/tanaka as a junior developer. McNamara spent five years working for Media General, where he worked on CMS publishing applications for their media sites.

Boards

Thomas Farrell, the chief executive at Dominion, was named vice chairman and chairman-elect of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.

Health care

Ron Barden is the new chief financial officer at WellAWARE Systems. Barden previously worked for Agility Healthcare Solutions (a GE Company), where he served as chief financial officer since 2007. Barden has also worked at Cadmus Communications Corporation, Heilig-Meyers, Deloitte & Touche and Ernst & Young. Barden went to William & Mary as an undergraduate and for an MBA.

John E. Nestler has been named chair of the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine’s Department of Internal Medicine. Nestler, a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, is a former chief medical resident at MCV Hospitals. He has served as interim chair of the department since 2009. He was vice chair from 2003-09 and was chair of the Division of Endocrinology.
