David L. Blanchard has been promoted to principal at Dominion Benefits. Blanchard joined Dominion Benefits in July 2006. He went to the University of Virginia.

Carrie Bartlett
was promoted to senior client manager at Dominion Benefits. She joined the company in 2008 and is currently pursuing a B.B.A. from Averett University.

Meghan Remige was promoted to senior client manager at Dominion Benefits. She received a B.A. from Radford University and joined Dominion Benefits in 2005.

Michelle Trimmer advances to Senior Client Manager at Dominion Benefits. She joined Dominion Benefits in 2008.

Daniel A. Weekley has been promoted to vice president-government affairs for Dominion Resources. Weekley was previously managing director of Dominion’s Northeast government affairs in New England and New York. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business and finance from Marshall University and an MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Recruiting

IT staffing firm Triumph Services, hired Trey Thornton as a technical recruiter.  Thornton is a graduate of Longwood University. Thornton has previously worked in marketing and game operations at Longwood’s athletic department.

Law

Gladys L. Yates, a lawyer in the local government practice of Sands Anderson, has been made counsel. She previously worked as assistant city attorney in Lynchburg and Roanoke. Yates earned her undergraduate degree at the University of Virginia and her law degree at the Washington and Lee.

Higher education

Virginia Commonwealth University appointed John I. Blohm to be vice president for development and alumni relations, effective Feb. 25 pending approval from school’s board of visitors. Blohm currently is vice chancellor for development and alumni affairs at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. He also previously held positions at  Emory University, the University of Alabama at Birmingham, the University of Florida, Virginia Wesleyan College and Suomi College. He received a bachelor of science from Central Michigan University. Blohm is to replace Peter Wyeth, who has served as VCU’s vice president for advancement since 1992. Erin L. Richardson is the new assistant director for regional initiatives in the University of Richmond’s Office of Alumni and Career Services. She was previously an assistant director in the university’s Office of Annual Giving. Richardson holds a bachelor’s degree in art history and a master’s degree in human resource management, both from the University of Richmond.

Business services

Robby Peay has been named president and CEO of Bizport. He previously served as the company’s COO since 2008. Prior to Bizport, Peay was an associate with McGuireWoods and Williams Mullen. He received a bachelor’s from Hampden-Sydney and a JD/MBA from the University of Richmond.

Investments

John Hopper has joined the First Tennessee Richmond private client services group as senior vice president. Hopper is a graduate of Hampden-Sydney College.

Tyler Crone also have joined First Tennessee Richmond, which is a subsidiary of First Horizon National Corp., as a senior vice president. Crone received a bachelor of science from James Madison University.

Technology

John Amory Jr. has joined Networking Technologies and Support Inc. as an inventory specialist.

Scott Gillentine joined Networking Technologies and Support Inc. as a senior field engineer.

Banking

J. Lawrence Mansfield Jr. has been named president of the Central Virginia market for Gateway Bank. Mansfield received a degree in economics from Hampden–Sydney College.

Business groups

The Innsbrook Business Alliance elected its board of directors at a recent meeting this month. The members of the board are Richard S. Johnson, president of Wilton Companies; Carter Marchant, director of sales for Marriott Richmond West; Kate Wagner, COO of First Capital Bank; Bunnie Isley, general manager of the Hampton Inn Richmond West; and Richmond developer Sidney Gunst. Officers of the organization are Marchant, president; Isley, vice president; Wagner, treasurer; and Gunst, secretary.
