Law

John S. Davis joined William Mullen. Davis is a former assistant U.S. attorney and criminal chief of the Eastern District of Virginia. He attended law school at Harvard and went to Davison College as an undergraduate.

Financial services/wealth management

Matthew J. Buckley has been promoted to managing principal at Capital Advisory Group. He has an MBA from the College of William & Mary and attended the University of Virginia.

Todd C. Early has been promoted to managing principal at Capital Advisory Group. He has an MBA from the University of South Carolina and went to Virginia Military Institute.

Mark G. Smith has been promoted to managing principal at Capital Advisory Group. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University.

W. Richard Smith III, founder of Capital Advisory Group, has been named chairman of the firm and will continue to serve as chief compliance officer. Smith founded CapGroup in 1983.

William “Bill” Akmentins joined Cary Street Partners as director of research. Prior to joining the firm, Akmentins was director of public investments at Southern Methodist University. He has an MBA from the University of North Carolina and attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as an undergraduate.

Alex Solomon joined Cary Street Partners as an analyst in its investment banking group. Solomon has an MBA from the University of Richmond.

Insurance
Amy R. Corbin has been promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer of Genworth Financial’s retirement and protection segment. Corbin has been with the company since 2003, most recently serving as controller and principal accounting officer. She has a master’s from the University of Central Florida.

Randy C. Howard has been promoted to senior vice president/marketing director and commercial counsel of Fidelity National Title Group. Howard was formally vice president/manager and commercial counsel.

Technology

Liz Dalton joined UDig as a technical recruiter. She attended Northeastern University.

Design

Hollie Bertch joined Gresham, Smith and Partners as an administrative assistant. She attends John Tyler Community College.
Brad Sucher joined Gresham, Smith and Partners as intern architect in the firm’s health-care market. Sucher attended the University of Detroit Mercy.

Associations

Lindsay Ford joined the Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia as an office assistant. Ford was most recently with St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.

Phillip Giaramita joined the Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia as an office assistant.

Emily Horne joined the Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia as a communications associate.

Amy Singleton joined the Community Foundation Serving Richmond and Central Virginia as the philanthropic services officer.

Sam Seeley has been named president of the Richmond First Club. Seeley is an instructor at Virginia Commonwealth University’s school of business.
