A Richmond car dealer is expanding its business and opening a Jeep dealership.
Capital Automotive purchased the building next door to Capital GMC, the former home of Lawrence Jeep Chrysler, and hopes to have Capital Jeep Chrysler Dodge open in May.
Capital principal George Poulos said the Jeep dealership is a first for his company.
“Jeep was looking for a new location in the Richmond area, and they approached us about it and asked if we would be interested,” Poulos said. “Sales of Jeep and Chrysler products have been strong and are getting stronger. We saw it as a good growth opportunity.”
Poulos said the dealership, a $3 million investment for the company, would add 30 jobs to the Capital Automotive payrolls.
W.H. Stovall & Company is the contractor for the remodel on the building at 5400 S. Laburnum Ave.
Two local Jeep dealerships, including Lawrence, closed in 2009 when Chrysler went into structured bankruptcy.
