David Keys joined Matrix as vice president in the Richmond office. He previously worked at Harris Williams & Co. and Piper Jaffray & Co. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of Chicago.
Cedric Fortemps has been promoted to director. Fortemps attended the University of Richmond. He is a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.
Michael Derstine joined Genworth Financial as chief risk officer for its Genworth U.S. Mortgage Insurance unit. Derstine previously worked at Republic Mortgage Insurance Company, where he held several leadership roles. Derstine attended Wake Forest University and Messiah College.
Kevin Chase joined Gateway Bank’s commercial banking team as senior vice president. He has more than 35 years of experience in commercial real estate finance in Richmond and the surrounding areas. He previously worked at Genworth Financial and attended the University of Virginia.

Michael W. Lowry will assume the roles of interim chief financial officer and interim chief accounting officer of Owens & Minor. Lowry has worked at Owens & Minor since 1988 and was appointed treasurer in 2009. Lowry will replace D. Andrew Edwards, who is leaving the company effective Feb. 7.
Mark Shaffer joined Sellers Dorsey as a senior consultant. Shaffer was most recently a senior official at Magellan Medicaid Administration and responsible for serving accounts in 25 states and the District of Columbia. Shaffer attended the University of Virginia.

S. Sadiq Gill and Murray H. Wright joined DurretteCrump. They previously worked at Vandeventer Black.
Nonprofits
Heath Niemeyer is the new chief development officer at United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg. Niemeyer comes to United Way of Greater Richmond and Petersburg from United Way of the Coastal Bend in Corpus Christi, Tex., where he served as vice president of resource development.
