A West End gift and decor shop is closing its doors.
Bear Pot Home Decor & Gifts will leave its location at 10464 Ridgefield Parkway by August. The store opened in 2008.
Victoria Gothier, who co-owns Bear Pot with her husband, said it was difficult for the store to compete with big-box retailers in Short Pump. She said they couldn’t draw in enough business to keep the shop running.
“We looked at other locations, but the dollars just weren’t there to do it,” Gothier said. “It got to the point where we had to make the decision to close. It’s a sad time for us.”
The shop is in the Gleneagles Shopping Center next to what used to be Libbie Market Ridgefield. The specialty grocery store closed in March.
Gothier said the store is offering a 30 percent discount on all merchandise. She said she plans to retire after the store closes.
