A church that has stood for more than a century at First and Leigh streets in Jackson Ward is up for sale.
The Sharon Baptist Church, along with four neighboring parcels totaling more than 17,000 square feet, is on the market. The 11,000-square-foot main church building at 22 E. Leigh St. was constructed in 1900, and the parish is still operating at that location.
It’s unclear whether the congregation has chosen a new church property. Calls to the church and its pastor were not returned.
Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer brokers Mark Douglas and Ashley Jones are handling the sale.
They are marketing it for potential redevelopment. A listing on the company’s website was last updated in April. No asking price was immediately available.
