Melissa Tannery recently joined the law firm of Andrew Mauck PLC. Tannery was formerly with Troutman Sanders and is an experienced litigator focusing on fiduciary matters and business disputes. Keiter announced that L. Michael Gracik Jr. will become the firm’s new managing partner effective Jan. 1. The transition concludes a three-year succession planning process of retiring managing partner Lewis O. Hall, who has served in the role for 15 years. Hall grew the firm to 20 partners and increased revenues in excess of $20 million in 2013.

Citizens and Farmers Bank (C&F Bank) announced that James T. “Jim” Napier has been elected to serve on the board of directors for C&F Bank. A 37-year veteran of the local real estate industry, Napier is president of Napier Realtors, which serves the Metropolitan Richmond and Tri-Cities area.
Matrix Capital Markets Group announced the following promotions for members of its energy and multi-site retail group (“EMR Group”), as well as an addition:
Spencer P. Cavalier has been promoted to managing director. Cavalier has been a member of the Matrix EMR Group since joining the firm in 1997.
Cedric C. Fortemps has been promoted to managing director. Fortemps joined Matrix in 1998 and has been a member of the EMR Group ever since.
Sean P. Dooley has been promoted to senior associate. Dooley joined the EMR Group in 2010. He was previously an associate in the forensic and valuation services group for the public accounting firm of Ellin & Tucker, Chartered.
Stephen C. Lynch has been promoted to associate. Before joining the EMR Group in 2011, Lynch was an audit senior at Deloitte & Touche, where he performed financial statement audits and internal control attestations for a variety of companies.
Steven J. Smith joined the EMR Group as a senior analyst. Before joining Matrix, he was an analyst in the corporate and investment banking group of SunTrust Robinson Humphrey and a senior audit assistant at Deloitte & Touche LLP.

Rutherfoord announced the hire of Shannon Scott Wyatt as assistant vice president, director of IT infrastructure. Wyatt will be based in Roanoke and will lead the management and development of the network and infrastructure for the Mid-Atlantic region for Marsh & McLennan Agency.
F. Michael Crowley, president and co-chief operating officer of Markel Corp., announced that John Latham is stepping down as president of Markel Wholesale effective Dec. 31. Bryan Sanders will succeed him. Sanders, who is executive vice president of Markel’s Wholesale division, joined Markel with the acquisition of Alterra Capital Holdings Limited. Latham will transition to a consultative role, active with Markel, working out of Markel’s Plano, Tex., regional office. Sanders will remain based in Markel’s home office in Richmond and report to Crowley.

Virginia Tourism Corporation president and chief executive Rita McClenny announced that Esra Onat Calvert has been named research director for VTC. Calvert previously served as VTC’s tourism development manager, working on projects involving research, economic analysis and DRIVE Tourism, the statewide tourism plan for Virginia. Calvert has served as the interim research director since August 2013.
