A national real estate giant has scooped up a Richmond firm that helps health-care companies with construction projects.

CBRE Group last week acquired Richmond-based KLMK Group, a firm that served as a project manager for health-care companies, assisting in planning and consultancy on large-scale projects such as hospitals.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal closed Nov. 1.

“Our health-care platform is becoming a big part of our business,” CBRE spokesman Robert McGrath said. “KLMK has got a great track record and are great professionals in terms of what they’ve done in project management.”

CBRE | Healthcare spokeswoman Susan Wadsworth, who came over from KLMK, said its staff would continue to do the same type of work the company had previously performed. The firm will continue to handle jobs that predate the acquisition and will maintain the same teams for each existing project.

All of KLMK’s roughly 40 employees have been absorbed into CBRE | Healthcare. Former KLMK chief executive John Kemper has been named senior managing director at CBRE and will help oversee the integration of KLMK into the firm. Kemper could not be reached for comment by press time.

KLMK works out of 7130 Glen Forest Dr. in the West End.

CBRE is a Los Angeles-based publicly traded commercial real estate firm that has brokerages around the world. Its local commercial real estate brokerage is CBRE | Richmond.
