W. Ashley Burgess and Andrew R. McRoberts have been elected shareholders of Sands Anderson, according to firm president L. Lee Byrd. Burgess received a law degree from George Mason University and a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University. McRoberts received a law degree at the University of Richmond and a bachelor’s degree from the College of William & Mary.

The Virginia Bar Association (VBA) made the following announcements:
The VBA installed John L. Walker III as its 126th president. Walker, a partner at the Williams Mullen law firm in Richmond, is the third member of his immediate family to serve as VBA president.
Three other officers also began their terms: president-elect Harry M. “Pete” Johnson III of Richmond, chair of the board of governors James P. Guy II of Richmond and immediate past president Thomas R. Bagby of Roanoke.
The VBA’s Young Lawyers Division installed Elaina L. Blanks, a tax attorney with Norfolk Southern Corp. in Norfolk, as chair. Chair-elect is Nupur S. Bal, an associate at Batzil Stiles Butler in Richmond.
The VBA membership elected Cheryl L. Black, a principal of Goodman, Allen & Filetti in Richmond, as chair of the law practice management division.

Eat Restaurant Partners announced the following hires:
Todd Richardson takes over as executive chef at the Blue Goat. Richardson has cooked extensively in the Richmond area, including at his own restaurant Verbena, and was most recently executive chef for the Boathouse at Rocket’s Landing and Casa Del Barco.
Will Mitchell joins Richardson at the Blue Goat as sous chef. Mitchell has done stints at Vong and the Spice Market in New York and was most recently at High Cotton in Charleston, SC.
J.B. Samuel joined the staff at Wild Ginger. Samuel was most recently at Ardeo in Washington. Samuel is replacing Chris Staples, who is moving to Foo Dog on Main Street.

Children’s Home Society of Virginia named Dale Johnson-Raney director of operations. Johnson-Raney has worked as a social worker, program manager, deputy director, interim executive director and organizational development consultant in the nonprofit sector. Johnson-Raney has a master’s degree in social work, a master’s degree in business administration, and a certificate in fund development.

Connexions Loyalty named Mark Nyquist vice president of product for health and wellness. Nyquist, a graduate of Harvard Business School, comes to Connexions from UnitedHealth Group.

BB&T Wealth announced that Jeff Hassler has joined the Central Virginia/Martinsville Wealth Team as personal trust specialist and vice president. He is a graduate of Wheaton College (Illinois) and Pepperdine University School of Law.
