A fried chicken chain continues to beef up its presence around Richmond.
At least three new Bojangles’ Famous Chicken ‘n Biscuits are in the works for the area, adding to three that entered the market in 2013.
Tands Inc. has begun construction on Bojangles’ locations at 8849 Staples Mill Road in Henrico County and 10901 Hull Street Road and 2807 Hicks Road, both on the Southside.
When they open this year, they will bring the number of Tands-owned Bojangles’ in the Richmond area to 11.
Tands, owned by Cameron McRae, has been a Bojangles’ franchisee since 1980 and owns 57 restaurants throughout Virginia and North Carolina. Each of its locations is about 3,800 square feet.
McRae wouldn’t say how much it costs to open a Bojangles’.
The Hull Street Road location will be in the Victorian Square Shopping Center. The Staples Mill store is going up near the Staples Mill Plaza Shopping Center. The Hicks Road location sits just south of a Kroger grocery store.
The land for the locations is owned by Redco Properties, out of Kinston, N.C.
Redco led the expansion of the Bojangles’ brand locally last year. The company purchased land in January 2013 for new three Richmond area Bojangles’.
