With bison grazing in the distance and the sun setting on Shields Lake, Richmond BizSense put the spotlight on corporate giving last week.
The second annual Generosity Inc., an event to honor corporate philanthropy around the region, was held at the Maymont Nature & Visitors Center on April 16.
More than 100 Richmond-area companies were represented at the event, which was based on results from a list that measured corporate giving in 2014 from firms both large and small.
Altria topped the ranking with $13 million donated in 2014; its largest local gift recipient was University of Virginia, to which the tobacco giant gave $1.5 million.
Dominion, Capital One, Martin’s and Union Bank rounded out the top five.
The list also included smaller companies like Lex’s of Carytown, Enzos Italian Chop House and Providence Golf Club.
The event was sponsored by Sands Anderson, Barrett Capital Management, M&T Bank, Sklar Technology Partners and Bizport.
Stay tuned to BizSense for more on next year’s edition of Generosity Inc. And check out more photos from the event here.
