Another million-dollar mansion in Manakin-Sabot has hit the market.
Braedon, a 45-acre equestrian estate, was listed for $4 million April 14. Richard Bower of Joyner Fine Properties has the listing.
The property at 1240 Shallow Well Road includes a nearly 6,000-square-foot 13-room house, an adjoining colonial-style tavern, multiple barns and equestrian facilities with a lighted riding ring and a jump field.
Located between River and Broad Street roads in eastern Goochland County, Braedon has been featured on local garden tours and has hosted history re-enactments and Deep Run Hunt Club activities, according to Bower’s listing.
County records list the owners as Giles and Tracy Tucker. Giles Tucker is managing director of local financial firm Blue Edge Capital.
They purchased the 23-acre parcel that the house is located on in 2005 for $3.1 million. An adjoining 22-acre parcel that makes up the rest of the Braedon estate was transferred to an LLC in 2007; Giles Tucker is the registered agent on that LLC.
The county’s most recent assessments put the value of the entire 45-acre property at $2.34 million.
Bower could not be reached directly for comment this week, but he provided a pamphlet detailing the property’s features. It describes Braedon as having been inspired by Colonial Williamsburg architecture and created with materials recovered from local Civil War-era buildings.
Built in 1970 and renovated over the past 10 years, the two-story main house consists of five bedrooms and 6½ bathrooms and features heart pine floors and a renovated kitchen. A breezeway connects it with the two-story tavern, which features a brick floor, a kitchen and bar, a loft and a walk-in fireplace.
A screened porch overlooks an adjacent swimming pool complex and a three-bedroom guest house. The property also has a two-story garage.
Equestrian features include a three-stall barn that can house a horse carriage, a newer eight-stall barn, an equipment shed, paddocks, and the riding ring and jump field.
The listing says Braedon “is steeped in equestrian tradition” and describes it as a “very special offering.” Showings are offered by appointment only.
The property is the latest multimillion-dollar listing in Manakin-Sabot. Up the street, another home listed by Bower, at 1771 Shallow Well Road, is for sale for $2.25 million. And just to the east, a 28-acre estate that once was home to former Star Scientific CEO Jonnie Williams was listed earlier this month for $4.9 million.
