Maseratis are beginning to roll off the lot in Richmond.
The area’s first dealership of the high-end Italian automobile brand opened for business at 9001 W. Broad St. in mid-April.
The dealership is owned by Larry Page’s Page Auto Group, which spent $550,000 to renovate a 7,000-square-foot building next to his Audi and Volkswagen showrooms to make way for Maserati’s arrival.
“Customers are ecstatic about it,” Page said. “People are excited to have a Maserati dealership here in Richmond.”
Local buyers have already begun to get a taste for Italian luxury. Page said he has sold four Maserati Ghiblis, a four-door sedan priced between $70,000 and $80,000, since opening last month. Page had predicted that would be the most popular model on his site.
He said the dealership currently keeps about 12 to 14 Maseratis on the lot at a time, including the Ghibli, Quattroporte and GranTurismo models.
He said he was pleasantly surprised that four were already sold without much marketing. His short-term goal is to eventually increase that to between six and eight cars sold a month.
The current building is only a temporary home for Page’s Maseratis. He said he recently secured an 8-acre site for a new Audi dealership on West Broad Street in Goochland County. He’ll eventually move his Audis there and move the Maseratis into the larger Audi building at 9001 W. Broad St.
Those plans are in the early stages, he said, and it is not yet clear when he will break ground on construction.
Page owns seven other dealerships around the Richmond area. In addition to Maserati, Audi and Volkswagen, he also sells Toyota, Honda, Hyundai and Scion brands.
The Maserati brand was established in Bologna, Italy, in 1914. Virginia has only two other dealerships, in Virginia Beach and Sterling.
