Emily M. Scott has joined the healthcare practice of Hirschler Fleischer as a partner. She had been with Hancock Daniel Johnson & Nagle. She has degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of Texas and the University of Richmond.

Samuel T. Bernier has joined Moran Reeves & Conn. He focuses his practice on the defense of healthcare providers against medical negligence claims. He has degrees from the Hawaii Pacific University and UR.

Steve Cornwell has joined Chesapeake Investment Group as senior investment consultant for their soon-to-open Richmond office and as a representative of Infinex Investments Inc. He is a graduate of Randolph-Macon College.

John A. Luke Jr. has been elected to the VCU Board of Visitors. He is the chairman and CEO of MeadWestvaco Corp.

Dr. Marsha D. Rappley has joined Virginia Commonwealth University as vice president for health services and CEO of the VCU Health System, effective Aug. 15. She is the dean of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She has degrees from the University of Michigan and Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Mechanics

David Bratton has been promoted to general manager of Bay Diesel.

Engineering

Greg Bullivant has been hired as a mechanical designer for Dunlap and Partners Engineers.

Nonprofits

Allan Altholz has been named director of marketing and communications at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. He had been with the Virginia Lottery. He has degrees from University of Miami and the New York Institute of Technology.

Dr. Christopher Richardson is director for the Office of Institutional Effectiveness and the director for both Union Presbyterian Seminary libraries, William Smith Morton Library in Richmond and the Charlotte campus library.

Chris Beach is executive director of First Things First, effective June 29.
