Method and compositions for producing polymer blends

Methods for mixing nylon compounds and compositions useful in mixing nylon compounds are provided. The methods and compositions disclosed are useful in producing nylon for wire and cable jacketing. The disclosed methods provide nylon having a reduced heat history compared to traditional methods. The disclosed methods and composition provide additional mixing capacity by reducing the amount of nylon that must be incorporated with additives per unit of final nylon composition. The disclosed methods and compositions provide the ability to select from a plurality of additive concentration levels in the final product by varying the ratio of a masterbatch compound containing a high concentration of the additive to a resin containing a low concentration or no additive.

Ballistic helmets and method of manufacture thereof

A method for manufacturing a high performance thermoplastic matrix composite ballistic helmet includes forming/shaping a highly consolidated helmet preform free of wrinkles and with no cuts or seams from a flat stack of 0/90 uni-directional prepreg layers using a pressure forming process. The wrinkle free and no cuts pre-formed helmet shell is pre-heated and placed between match-metal dies in a compression molding press to be molded under constant pressure during heating at high temperature and cooling down below 200.degree. F. in less than 45 minutes. Or molded under constant pressure at high temperature for less than 20 minutes and then the molded helmet is removed from the compression molding press and placed in a hydroforming machine to be cooled down in less than two minutes under a very high pressure while the thermoplastic matrix solidify during cooling down.

The multi-faceted two-part container is a novel truncated pyramidal shape and is an innovative solution to prior pill bottle designs, based on several factors: the container has better container stability over prior bottle shapes; it may be stacked at an angle in a user’s home; a hinged lid opening creates easier user access; and the container shape yields greater internal volume (over prior container designs). Further, the container has a large labeling surface area, possesses angled surfaces that allow for easy viewing of redundant labeling medication information on the container by a user, and has container parts that can be manufactured, shipped and assembled in novel ways and at lower costs than traditional pill bottles.

A light fixture mounting system which aids in quickly, easily, and safely connecting a light fixture to a junction box. The light fixture mounting system generally includes a mounting plate adapted to be electrically and mechanically connected to a junction box. The mounting plate includes contacts comprised of metallic material such that an electrical fixture may be magnetically secured to the mounting plate. Magnets on the electrical fixture will magnetically engage with the contacts to magnetically secure the electrical fixture to the mounting plate. Current from the junction box will pass through the contacts and magnets to power the light source. A relay switch and reed switch are also utilized in combination with a central magnet on the electrical fixture to stop current flow if the electrical fixture becomes partially or fully dislodged from the mounting plate.

Embodiments of the invention include sensors comprising high electron mobility transistors (HEMTs) with capture reagents on a gate region of the HEMTs. Embodiments including antibodies or enzymes can have the antibodies or enzymes bound to the Au-gate via a binding group. Other embodiments of the invention are methods of using the sensors for detecting breast cancer, prostate cancer, kidney injury, glucose, metals or pH where a signal is generated by the HEMT when a solution is contacted with the sensor. The solution can be blood, saliva, urine, breath condensate, or any solution suspected of containing any specific analyte for the sensor.
