A campaign to establish a dedicated pinball arcade in Richmond has met its fundraising goal.
A Kickstarter campaign by the Richmond Pinball Collective exceeded its goal of raising $7,000 in about a month. The campaign concluded Nov. 9 with 130 donors pledging $8,121, according to the crowdfunding website.
The five-person group, which has held two pop-up arcades at Hardywood Park Craft Brewery since forming about a year ago, plans to put the funds toward leasing a space in the range of 1,000 square feet for about 10 to 20 machines that would be loaned by collectors, the collective’s Clark Fraley has said.
Fraley, a regional route supervisor for coin-operated game supplier Tricorp Amusements, which recently rebranded to Player One Amusement Group, said support for the arcade was evident in the turnout for the Hardwood pop-ups, held in January and October. Richmond also hosts two local leagues: the River City Flippers and Balls of Steel.
With its crowdfunding realized, Fraley said the group will be on the hunt for a space to lease, mentioning Scott’s Addition and Manchester as possible locations. The group is aiming to find a location and open the arcade in the next six months.
