Metabolomics-based biomarkers for lung function

Patent No. 9,823,204

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), characterized by chronic airflow limitation, is a serious and growing public health concern. The major environmental risk factor for COPD is cigarette smoking, but the biological mechanisms underlying COPD are not well understood. Herein, proton nuclear magnetic resonance (.sup.1H-NMR) spectroscopy is used in methods to identify metabolites and biomarkers associated with lung function in COPD.

Child-resistant closure systems for containers

Patent No. 9,821,127

A child-resistant closure system for a container comprises a protective cap, a dispensing tip, and a cylindrical base. The dispensing tip includes a pair of buttons adapted to control whether the dispensing tip is in a locked condition so as to prevent actuation or an unlocked condition so as to permit actuation, via the shoulders, of a sprayer pump unit that is partially contained within the dispensing tip. The cylindrical base has a pair of spaced apart upwardly extending legs. In an locked condition of the dispensing tip, the upwardly extending legs are not aligned with slots defined in a horizontal circumferential portion of the dispensing tip such that downward movement of the dispensing tip in relation to the base is blocked by the upwardly extending legs to prohibit actuation of the sprayer pump unit and to lock the dispensing tip.

Virtual reality shopping experience

Patent No. 9,824,391

A solution is provided for a method for a user to shop online in a three dimensional (3D) virtual reality (VR) setting by receiving a request at a shopping server to view a shopping location, having at least one store, and displaying the shopping location to the user’s computer in a 3D interactive simulation view via a web browser to emulate a real-life shopping experience for the user. The server then obtains a request to enter into one of the stores and displays the store website to the user in the same web browser. The store website has one or more enhanced VR features. The server then receives a request to view at least one product and the product is presented in a 3D interactive simulation view to emulate a real-life viewing of the product.
